UNION PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION INVITES APPLICATIONS FOR THE FOLLOWING POSTS

1.(Vacancy No.10095201704) Sixty-eight Junior Works Managers (Mechanical) in Ordnance Factory Board, Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence. Civilian in Defence Services.
Out of sixty eight posts, seven posts are reserved for Scheduled Castes candidates, five posts are reserved for Scheduled Tribes candidates. Of the sixty eight posts, three posts are reserved for Physically Handicapped persons [viz. one post for persons with disability of Hearing Impairment (Partially Deaf) and two posts for persons with disability of Orthopaedically Handicapped/Locomotor disability / Cerebral Palsy with One Arm affected(OA) or One Leg affected(OL)] belonging to any community. The posts are also suitable for persons with disabilities viz. Hearing Impairment (Partially Deaf) or Orthopaedically Handicapped/Locomotor disability / Cerebral Palsy with One Arm affected(OA) or One Leg affected(OL).
ESSENTIAL EDUCATIONAL: Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from a recognized University.
DUTIES: A senior Group-‘B’ (Gazetted) post having duties of managerial nature. A JWM is required to work as a Head of Section/Workshop/Office or a Group in the Workshop/Section/Office and be fully responsible for proper working of the group allotted to him. For these duties and responsibilities, he is to report to Divisional Officer who is a Group-’A’ Officer.
NOTE: A Written Objective Type Test with multiple choices answer will be conducted and followed by Interview for selection of Candidates to the posts of Junior Works Manager (Mechanical). The written test will be conducted on 9th January, 2011 in the Forenoon Session.
SCHEME AND SYLLABUS FOR THE TEST: The test will be of two hours’ duration and the medium of the question paper will be English only. The test will be an objective type with multiple choices of answer and will carry a maximum of 100 marks. There will be a penalty for wrong answers. Every wrong answer will carry a deduction of one-third of the marks assigned to that question. If no answer is marked for a question, there will be no penalty for that question. The level of the question paper will be of the BE programme of Indian Universities.
SYLLABUS: The syllabus of the Test shall cover following major topics : Statics and Dynamics, Kinematics and Dynamics of Machines, Machine Design, Mechanics of Solids, Production Technology, Manufacturing Science including machine Tools, Metrology, Industrial Engineering, Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Material Science, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning.
2.(Vacancy No.10095202804) Twenty-one Junior Works Managers (Chemical) in Ordnance Factory Board, Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence. Civilian in Defence Services.
Out of twenty-one posts, three posts are reserved for Scheduled Castes candidates, two posts are reserved for Scheduled Tribes candidates and six posts are reserved for Other Backward Classes candidates.
ESSENTIAL EDUCATIONAL : M.Sc in Chemistry or Degree in Chemical Engineering/Technology or equivalent from a recognized University.
Duties: Same as in Item No.1 above.

NOTE

1.Candidates are requested to apply in the format published along with thisSPECIAL ADVERTISEMENT No. 52/2010 and NOT write to the Commission for application forms. They are also requested to go through carefully the details of posts and instructions published below before applying.
2.NATURE OF POST: The posts at Item Nos.1 & 2 are permanent & belong to Civilian in Defence Services.
3.PAY SCALE & CLASSIFICATION: Rs.9300-34800+Rs.4600(Grade pay) (T.E. Rs.18665)Group ‘B’ Gazetted for the posts at Item Nos. 1 & 2 above. (Figures in bracket at the end of the pay scale indicate the approx total emoluments (per month) excluding TA and HRA at the minimum of the scale.
4.AGE LIMIT: Between 21 and 30 years as on normal closing date for the posts at Item Nos.1 & 2 above.
N.B. The age limit shown against Item Nos. 1 & 2 above is normal age limit. The age is relaxable for SC/ST candidates upto 5 years in respect of vacancies reserved for them. Age is relaxable upto 3 years for OBC candidates in respect of vacancies reserved for them. AGE IS ALSO RELAXABLE FOR CENTRAL/UT GOVT SERVANTS UPTO FIVE YEARS AS PER THE INSTRUCTIONS ISSUED BY GOVT OF INDIA FROM TIME TO TIME. NOTE: Candidates with disabilities[ as indicated against Item(s)] can apply to the respective posts even if the post is not reserved for them. However, such candidates will be considered for selection to such post by general standard of merit. Persons suffering from not less than 40% of relevant disability shall alone be eligible for the benefit of reservation and other relaxations as permissible under the rules
5.HEADQUARTERS: Any of the Ordnance Factories, Units and HQ in India for Items Nos. 1 & 2 above.
6. PROBATION: Two years for the posts at S. Nos. 1 & 2.

IMPORTANT

Candidates applying for the posts of Junior Works Manager(Mechanical) and Junior Works Manager(Chemical) must use single application form as per the format published along with this Special Advertisement No.52/2010. Application submitted in any other format will not be accepted and is liable to be rejected. One envelope should contain one application only. WEIGHTAGE: The candidates will be called for interview in order of their merit in the Recruitment Test. The number of candidates called will be a multiple of the vacancies reserved in each category viz. SC/ST/OBC/PH/UR(Unreserved). RESPECTIVE WEIGHTAGE OF THE RECRUITMENT TEST AND INTERVIEWS SHALL BE DECIDED BY THE COMMISSION. A duly signed passport size photograph of the candidate is required to be affixed on the application format on the space provided for it.Applications without fee, photograph, declaration not signed by the candidate and not indicating the choice of Centre will be rejected. Similarly, applications received late and received from over aged candidates will also be rejected. Oneself addressed envelope (28 cms X 12 cms.) is to be enclosed along with the application. No other documents are to be sent.
Applicants are required to indicate TWO Centres of their choice in order of preference in boxes against column No. 11(A) and 11(B). Change of Centre will not be permitted to any candidate under any circumstances. The candidates are cautioned that if any candidate appears at the centre not allotted to him/her by the Commission, his/her answer sheets will not be evaluated. The recruitment test for Junior Works Manager(Mechanical) & Junior Works Manager(Chemical) will be held at all or any of the following Centres. The recruitment test of Junior Works Manger(Mechanical) will be conducted on 9th January, 2011 in the Forenoon Session while the Recruitment Test for the post of Junior Works Manager(Chemical) will be conducted on the 9th January, 2011 in the afternoon Session.

Applicants are required to indicate TWO Centres of their choice in the application Form in order of preference from amongst the Examination Centres mentioned below. If any of the Centre mentioned below registers less than 10 candidates, that Centre will not be operated for Recruitment Test.
