The Ministry of Environment & Forests (MOEF) was established by the Government of India with the aim of having a nodal agency in the administrative structure of the Central Government. The main purpose of theministry is to look out for the planning, promotion, co-ordination and overseeing the implementation of environmental and forestry policies and programmes of the country. The major objective of the ministry is to implement policies and programmes relating to conservation of the natural resources of India.
