Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Sevagram, was established in the year 1944. The institute is considered as the first institute of modern medicine placed in the country. The main aim behind the establishment of the institute was to evolve an integrated pattern of medical education and health care by using Rural Medical College and Hospital as a base. The another major objective of the institute is to provide value based & cost effective medical education to the people and also to explore traditional medicine systems of the country.
